Behavioral Task Force - Errata Submission
Assigned Enhancement Request Number: BE57
Errata Name (Description): Vector length storing strings
Section: 4.2.3.1, page 41
Date Submitted: 12/8/96
Requestor: Stu Sutherland
Status: Submitted (priority not yet assigned)
Errors found in the Verilog LRM (IEEE 1364-1995).
Details:
The second paragraph states vector variables storing strings
"shall" have 8*n bits. Shall is a binding term (per page 1), and is too
strong for this statement. Also, the LRM does not define the term
"variables".
Suggest wording: "When manipulating string values in vector registers, the
registers should be at least 8*n bits (where n is the number of ASCII
characters) in order to preserve the 8-bit ASCII code."
