Good afternoon;
A few thoughts for you to consider on monday.
1. The world is looking for a 'standard' for the concepts embodied
in the -f, -y, -v command line switches. This standard should define
what these concepts are and exactly what they should do.
2. The configuration proposal presented by Cadence doesn't address #1 !
It is trying to specify 'configuration' of verilog systems.
Given the fact that Cadence is willing to also specify how to define
libraries along with their proposal and they understand and encourage
the concepts of library files and library directories then it seems
that we will need to standardize what -y and -v means even though
we intend to provide an alternate method to build a library.
What do others feel? From all the conversations I hear, people
try to talk about libraries and files and can't get into the
Cadence proposal because they are stuck trying to understand
how they are going to say 'this file is in library B'.
