Dear BTF -
I believe a student just found a typo in the Verilog Standard. The UDP
table 8-1 in the IEEE Verilog Standard, has the comment for an "X" entry of
"Not permitted in the output field" but upon closer examination of the BNF
elsewhere in the Standard, the "X" is a legal output_symbol. Using a little
common sense, "X" in the output field should not be prohibited, even though
it is not necessary. Any input combination that could produce an X-output
is typically omitted from the table. UDPs drive X's for any undefined input
combination.
Does everyone agree that this should be corrected in the Verilog Standard
for those who wish to make explicit X-output assignments?
Regards - Cliff
