Precedence: bulk
I just looked at it very quickly for now.
I hope to look at it more closely before the meeting.
Overall it looks very nice.
I have a few comments.
One is that some of the items don't lend themselves to a grading of "would use"/"would
not use",
but more like "for"/"against". Especially those in section 9. For example, "extensive
rewrite of LRM".
(Personally, I find it useful that the 1364 standard organization and wording closely
corresponds
to its source, the Cadence Verilog-XL LRM. I sometimes compare between the documents and
it is often useful.
In fact, I have such a need today.)
Probably there should also be room for comments on each specific item.
Or add an additional sheet at the end where the user could add all his comments.
Finally, an additional way to get inputs would be to try to circulate the form within
the user communities
of companies, at least those known to have large user communities. For example, I could
circulate the form
within Motorola. This may raise a problem of how to select those companies and how to
circulate them.
It also might unduly bias the results in favor of a certain community. This could leave
us open to complaints
about lack of openness. Still, it could be a way to get much
more response. In that case, the form should be available in an editable online format
and emailed to a
response address.
Finally, the form should allow the option for a user to write his name and email to
allow further contact
with him in the future, for more detailed discussion. (It would also help identify
disproportionate representation
of a particular community.)
Thanks,
Shalom
