  • Next message: Michael McNamara: "RE: PSL: Attributes for Verilog and SystemVerilog"

BTF meeting on March 8, 2004 starting 10:40 PST.

    In attendance:
            Kurt Baty
            Tom Fitzpatrick
            Ennis Hawk
            Atsushi Kasuya
            Michael McNamara
            Kathryn McKinley
            Brad Pierce
            Karen Pieper
            Steven Sharp

    1) The Chair read the IEEE patent policy presentation, and refers all
to http://www.verilog.com/IEEEVerilog.html where a link to the IEEE
       policy is prominent.

    2) Kurt moves and Kathy seconds approving minutes. None oppose, none
       abstain; minutes approved.

    3) Steven asks for reports from the subcommittees. Kathy reports that
there is another extensions guideline meeting on March 15 and that
the datatypes team met two hours last week. There are no minutes
posted yet for the datatypes meeting.

    4) Topics of the datatypes meeting included keywords, events and
2-state types, but the main issue turned out to be terminological.
It was argued that a declaration of a Verilog net or variable has
two orthogonal components, not just a type, but also a 'kind' of
       update semantics (or 'resolution').

    5) Kurt asked about the semantics of Verilog function calls, especially
those with integer inputs, when the function call is driving a
       continuous assignment. A discussion ensued.

    6) Steven had heard no recent report on prioritization from Alec or
on IP encryption from Steve Dovich. Stefen's new mail reflectors
are up and seem to be working well.

    7) Next meeting in 2 weeks on March 22 after the VSG meeting.

    Brad moves to adjourn.

    11:15 PST meeting adjourned.

    Next meeting March 22, 2004.
