Alec opened the meeting at meeting started at 10:40am on Monday, July
    12, 2004.

    Participants:

    Steve Dovich
    Tom Fitzpatrick
    Alec Stanculescu
    Francoise Martinole
    Karen Pieper
    Kurt Baty

Minutes from July 1st were approved.

ALec reminded everybody that the IEEE patent policy was discussed
during the VSG meeting which finished at 9:35am the same day, which
all present attended and therefore it should be fresh in everybody's
    mind. Nobody objected.

Alec invited Steve Dovich to present the status of the Encryption
working group. Steve stated that it is waiting for feedback from the
BTF on whether to use formal comments or compiler directive/pragma syntax.

Karen moved to favor a compiler directive/pragma syntax and Kurt Baty
seconded. All were in favor of this motion and the motion carried.

Steve Dovich will present to the group a comparison of the advantages
and disadvantages of a specific compiler directive approach vs a
general pragma approach for supporting encryption.

Francoise Maritnole raised the issue of the Database of 1364,
expressing concern that it may be closed after July 16th, based on an
e-mail she received from Vassilios. Kurt
mentioned that it is his impression that Stefen Boyd is not motivated
to continue the same amount of support. Alec mentioned that the does
not believe that Stefen will close the data base on his own will
without talking to the group and asking for somebody else to support
it in case he cannot do it anymore, nor that Stefen will be ordered by
    someone else to close it.

Also, Alec stated that the standardization of SystemVerilog and its
relationship with Verilog is of great interest to IEC, since Verilog is
an IEC standard as well, and that the WG1 of the TC93 of IEC will work
on this issue and produce reports which will be processed by the IEEE
in accordance with the Dual Logo Agreement that exists between the
IEEE and IEC. Therefore, it is unlikely and it would be irresponsible
to loose any information currently stored within the 1364 database.

The data type group will meet again on July 22nd. The prioritization
group will meet on July 19th at 8:30am PST and the BTF will meet again on
    July 26th at 10:30am PST.

The meeting adjourned at 11:45am PST.
