Group agrees to consider IEEE patent policy read.
Meeting minutes approved. Mark abstains. Passes.
Proposal for 547. Brad opposes. Passes.
Proposal 354, with amendments to insert "integer code;" and add semi-colon
to usage. Use correct bolding in text. Also add to list of File I/O
tasks at beginning of section. Nobody opposes. No abstains. Passes.
Discussion of wone proposal:
There was technical discussion of what was being proposed. The question
was raised whether the nets should be required to have exactly one
driver, or just no more than one driver. Kathy maintained that the
proposal should match the restrictions on SV logic variables, and the
VHDL ulogic type. Another question was what to do with tran and tranif
bidirectional switches. Possibilities include treating their terminals
as a single driver, or just not allowing them to be connected to these
single-driver nets. Unidirectional switch terminals (nmos and pmos)
can be treated as drivers.
Question was raised whether this should be done in 1364 versus the SV-BC.
Kathy responded that Matt Maidment was aware of this proposal and agreed
that it should go to 1364. Also some discussion of how the text fits
better into the 1364 LRM.
Straw poll of whether we should add this functionality. It passed, but
with some reservations. Brad wanted to have the port directions enforced
on wone, to be more like logic variable ports. Kathy felt that this was
not orthogonal with existing net types, and was beyond the scope of the
proposal. Mark was concerned that wone might have unforeseen interactions
with SystemVerilog. Others felt that this should not add any new
interactions beyond those already existing for nets.
Another poll was conducted on the preferred keyword to be used for the
new net type (since the proposed "wone" was not universally popular).
Alternatives considered were "wone", "uwire", "wireu" and "ulogic".
In the end, "uwire" was preferred.
Meeting adjourned at 12:45. Next meeting is in two weeks, Nov 15.
