I think it should always be a hyphen.
Also, how should it be written when you want to refer to both
bit-selects and part-selects?
Sometimes, as in Table 30, it appears as "bit and part selects".
Then, it is not always clear that "bit" refers to "selects".
The clearest way to write would be "bit-selects and part-selects".
Lacking that, you could write "bit- and part-selects".
