    Looks like Stu and I value the opposite parts of your
    proposal...

    I'm not so passionate about avoiding all declarations, so
    avoiding declarations isn't very important to me. But I
    do like the idea of having a single type I can use everywhere
    that morphs between wire (driver resolution) and reg (last
    write wins) is valuable. I prefer making the logic type
    do that since it has become more or less synonymous with reg.

    Admittedly, allowing a single cont. assign to a variable
    get's me 80% of the way there, I just wish we would finish
    the job and add the morphing.
