    Peter, Dennis,

I have been catching up on this thread since getting back from the
NESCOM meeting yesterday and have to say that this seems to be blown out
of proportion to the actual events that I witnessed at the meeting.

I was not aware of Mac's request to conference in members of the P1364
WG since I did not have email access at the time but I do not see
anything wrong with this. The meeting is open to all interested parties
and certainly it is conceivable that members of P1364 would have an
interest. The whole event from start to finish took approximately ten
minutes and did not seem to bother anyone that I could see in the room.
As far as Dennis's and Steve Mill's participation, it was their choice
to do so and clearly not necessary but certainly welcome.

The questions that Mac posed were, in my mind, legitimate and in no way
disruptive. They were issues that we had discussed in the DASC-SC and I
think getting clear answers publicly stated in the NESCOM meeting added
clarity to the whole procedure. I do not see how having interested
parties participate in an open meeting and ask relevant questions can be
    seen as embarrassing to DASC.

    Regards,
      Victor

Subject: Comments on events at NesCom meeting

    Dear colleagues,

I am concerned and disappointed at the actions taken by the P1364 Chair
    at
the NesCom meeting. My understanding is that he organized a dial-in for
P1364 members to participate and comment on the P1800 proposal.
Furthermore, he questioned whether P1800 could be approved ahead of the
changes to the P1364 PAR that we agreed to.

I view Mac's actions as unprofessional and reprehensible. The DASC-SC
agreed on a course of action, and obtained agreement and support from
    CAG
and Accellera officers. Mac's actions and comments to NesCom have
undermined the standing of DASC as a sponsor and as a responsible
    organization.

As sponsor for P1364 and P1800, it is the perogative of the DASC,
    through
its Steering Committee, to manage the development of the standards. The
P1364 Chair does not represent the position of the DASC-SC.

I am directing the P1364 Chair and members not to make representations
    on
P1800 or P1364 to other organizations of IEEE or external bodies without
prior consultation and approval of the DASC Steering Committee.

My enduring concern is that DASC remain viable as the forum for
    developing
EDA standards within IEEE. I will speak strongly against anything that
    prejudices that.

    Regards,

    Peter Ashenden
    DASC Chair
