Hi Steve;
One additional note.
If there exist suffix rules that define 'types' for files. Then the need of a command
line option is removed.
E.g. The command line
... this_sim.cfg ...
would be equivalent to this command line
... -verilog_config this_sim.cfg ...
With a suffix rule.
Synopsys Vcs (a tool I know of) allows one to specify a mixture of verilog, C code and
object files on the command line. It distinguishes them by the suffix, not by command line.
Thus one could have a tool that would accept
% my_vlg_tool top.v mid.v this.cfg lib.map other.v lib/*.vlib
without any other 'options'
