I meant
"Since a continuous assignment would read in the value of a net declared
with a 2-state type as 2-state, a z value could be lost in passing
through a port."
I used the term "2-state net" to mean a net declared as a 2-state type.
The term shouldn't be interpreted to mean that the net is represented
as 2-state internally, since no nets would ever be represented that way
with this approach.
